Five Must-Visit Playgrounds in Arvada
Arvada is home to more than 100 parks and over 70 playgrounds! The best playground is often the closest, but sometimes it’s nice to mix things up a bit and find a new place for the kids to play.
Through its “Taking Lasting Care” program, the City does a terrific job of renovating different playgrounds around town each year.
Here are five must-visit playgrounds in Arvada – and trust us, there are many, many others!
Creekside | 5897 Pierce St. off the Ralston Creek Trail in southeast Arvada, the playground at Creekside Park was renovated in August 2023. The playground features a shade canopy, expression swing, net climber, and wildlife-themed equipment such as a turtle spinner, clown fish climber, dragonfly teeter totter and more!
Memorial | 8001 W. 59th Ave. just north of Olde Town Arvada, the playground at Memorial Park is a great alternative to the nearby Ralston Central Park playground, which is fantastic but can get busy sometimes. The Memorial Park playground has something for all ages of kids, including some tall tube slides for the older ones and some fun bouncers for the younger tykes.
McIlvoy | 5750 Upham St. in Olde Town Arvada, the playground at McIlvoy Park was recently renovated and opened back up to the public in November 2023. It’s a great spot to let the kiddos burn some energy before/during/after a trip to Olde Town. The multi-level sky tower, scavenger hunt, custom play panel honoring Arvada’s history, and a tree carving featuring a horned owl and red fox all make this unique destination.
Rainbow Park East | 8101 Yarrow St. in northeast Arvada, the playground at Rainbow East Park features a jungle theme and has equipment suitable for a variety of different ages. There’s plenty of shade trees surrounding the playground, and there's an off-street trail that connects to two other great parks and playgrounds that are nearby!
Ralston Valley | 6863 Coors St. in west Arvada, the playground at Ralston Valley Park doesn’t offer much parking, but it’s conveniently located just off a popular section of the Ralston Creek Trail so it’s easy to get to on bike or foot. The highlight of the space-themed playground has to be the two tall tube slides!
