Newsbreak: Tourism marketing helps small businesses

A recent campaign by Visit Arvada shows that for every dollar spent on tourism marketing, small towns such as Arvada, Colorado see a significant economic impact from visitor spending and exposure.

Visit Arvada, the City of Arvada’s tourism arm, sought to increase visitors to Arvada through two paid digital campaigns in 2024 that were executed during the summer and holiday seasons. The goals were to increase brand awareness of Arvada as a destination, while aiming to increase website visits with a specific focus on downloading guides detailing the unique seasonal events and activities taking place in the community.

“We do not want Arvada to be a ‘best kept secret’ any longer,” Arvada Mayor Lauren Simpson said. “Arvada is a community primarily comprised of small businesses and we want to ensure that they stay strong and vibrant. To do that, they need to stay busy year-round and we are committed to promoting the amazing assets that our community possesses."

Two distinct campaigns were created by Visit Arvada in 2024 to promote the unique dining and shopping options in Arvada, the easy accessibility to Olde Town Arvada via the RTD G Line and the outdoor amenities available in the city’s vast trail system, which includes 120+ parks. The campaigns ran for a combined 15 weeks and close to $30,000 was invested.
