2nd Annual Pumpkin Festival - October 12
The Arvada Community Garden was a big part of the Annual Festival of Scarecrows every year in Olde Town on the second Saturday in October. It was a major fundraiser for the garden. They sponsored the Giant Pumpkin and Giant Squash contests, accepted donations for pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks, mini pumpkins, Indian corn and plants. They also had a kids booth where kids would spin the cultivator wheel and win a free prize. They would also be asking the festival goers gardening questions where a correct answer would earn a packets of seeds.
The Festival of Scarecrows was canceled in 2023. Not to be discouraged, the Arvada Community Garden president Heather Fiedler decided to go ahead and have their portion of the festival but have it at the Community Garden. She renamed it the Annual Pumpkin Festival and it will take place this year on October 12th from 10am to 2pm at the Community Garden at 9195 W 57th Ave. Besides the items mentioned above they will also have free festive crafts for the kids, community garden tours, light refreshments including cider and pumpkin flavored treats, U-Pick Pumpkin Patch and plenty of free close parking.
The U-Pick Pumpkin Patch will continue to operate during open hours (M & W 5pm to 7pm, weekends 8am to noon) until the end of the month or sold out.
