The Three Best Hikes in Arvada
Whether you love to stroll or work up a sweat on your hike through the trails, Arvada can fit the bill thanks to its wide variety of options. The city’s 150+-mile trail network includes sections of two regional trails, three major trails and several shorter trails.
The most popular trails run east-west, are longer in length and generally follow creek or canal corridors. They include:
• Little Dry Creek Trail: (6 miles)
This paved trail is accessible for walkers, skaters and bikers, as well as leashed dogs. You’ll pass through rolling park and open space lands from Sheridan Boulevard west to Indiana Street. Be sure to be on the lookout for wildlife, especially in the wetland areas, and you may want to pack a picnic to stop at one of the parks and play areas. Open year-round.
• Ralston Creek Trail (12.5 miles)
Arvada’s longest and most complete public trail links several parks and open space areas as it follows the creek. You’ll pass lakes and ponds, wildlife habitats, bird sanctuaries and historic sites, as well as playground, shelters, picnic areas, restrooms and over the 400-foot suspended cable Spar Bridge.
• Van Bibber Creek Trail (2.5 miles)
Winding through a stream corridor with creekside woodlands and meadows, you’re sure to see wildlife and a variety of bird species. Just west of the Kipling Underpass you’ll find an activity station and picnic area with fitness equipment and shaded seating to rest.
